Bulldogs land in Sect. X final

POTSDAM — Undefeated Chateaugay moved one step closer to capturing the Section X Class D title with a 4-0 victory over Lisbon in the semifinals at Potsdam High School Monday.

Chateaugay will take on Parishville-Hopkinton Thursday in the championship game at 5 p.m., also being Potsdam High School.

The Bulldogs and Knights battled to a scoreless tie in the first half before Chateaugay opened the flood gates.

Courtney Boyea scored a pair of goals in the first 5:33 of the second half to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Hannah Cook, Nicole Lamica and Alexis Beach were credited with the assists.

Alexis Beach then made it 4-0 with two goals to close the scoring of the game. Katie Beach supplied both assists.

Stephanie Whyte, Taylor Wench and Katie Beach all had strong play at halfback for Chateaugay.

Makayla Fleury turned away three shots for the Bulldogs to earn the shutout victory. Jackie Sovie made 13 saves in net for Lisbon in a losing effort.
