---- — Verkey incorrectly credited with record

PLATTSBURGH — In “Honan breaks hurdles record; PHS, Ti win first meet” in Wednesday’s edition, Samantha Verkey of Seton Catholic was incorrectly credited with being the last holder of the 55-meter hurdles record. Verkey held the record until 2009, when it was broken by Ticonderoga’s Emily Palmer at the Section VII Championship meet.

Palmer broke the previous record of 9.1 seconds by running the course in 8.9 seconds.

The Press-Republican regrets the error.

Kilkeary tosses 814 series at North Bowl

PLATTSBURGH — Kevin Kilkeary Sr. rolled his first-ever 800 series with a 279-276-259-814 in the Tuesday Night Handicap at North Bowl Lanes on December 11. Kilkeary, who carries a 212 average in the league, was bowling for

the Butcher Block team.

CVAP to host

sports performance clinic Dec. 29, 30

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Athletic Performance is hosting a sports performance clinic Dec. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Dec. 30 from 12 to 2 p.m., at the City Recreation Center on the US Oval.

The sessions are open to anyone eight years of age or older, including parents, coaches and groups.

Coaches will teach participants proper body positioning, running/speed techniques, agility, plyometrics and mobility techniques, which can be used to improve overall sports performance.

Groups and teams that join will learn proper team warm-up drills that focus on dynamic flexibility and speed development.
