---- — GLENS FALLS — There’s already been plenty of highlights for the Clinton Community College men’s soccer team this season.
Wednesday, however, wasn’t one of them.
Host Adirondack Community College broke loose for four second-half goals and rolled to a 5-0 victory over the Cougars.
“They’re a very fast team, especially up top,” said Clinton coach Zac Eppler. “Quite frankly, I didn’t think we were ready to play today.”
Samuel Naiwo, a thorn in the side of the Cougars in an early Adirondack 3-2 victory in Plattsburgh, was back at it again on Wednesday.
The speedy forward scored three goals, the last coming on a penalty kick with six minutes left in the contest, and added an assist.
Naiwo tallied the lone goal of the first half and then Thomas Debenham made it 2-0 with 20 minutes gone in the second half.
The Timberwolves then erupted for three goals in the game’s final 15 minutes. Darren Serrane-Griffiths got the first one and Naiwo then added two more to complete the scoring.
Robert Sprague made seven saves in net for the shutout, while Travis Agoney, who played the first 80 minutes, and Ethan Markwica combined for eight stops for Clinton (9-4, 8-4).
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they host Hudson Valley Community College at 5:30 p.m. at the Field House Soccer Complex.
