PHS girls rebound to win in volleyball

---- — ELLENBURG CENTER — The Plattsburgh High Hornets rallied from a third-set loss to defeat the host Northern Adirondack Bobcats 3-1 Monday night in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball.

The teams entered the match tied for third with 5-2 records.

PHS took a 2-0 lead with wins of 25-18, 25-11, but NAC kept the match alive with a 25-19 victory in the third set. The Hornets sealed the match with a hard-fought 26-25 win in the fourth.

Kadijah Brown had an outstanding night for PHS with 10 kills, five points and six digs. Kianna Dragoon and Deanna LaBarge also excelled with Dragoon picking up 26 assists, eight kills and two blocks while LaBarge contributed eight kills, five points, one block and nine digs.

Rachel Rebideau chipped in with nine points and two aces to go with 10 digs while Taylor Witkiewicz had seven points, three aces, four kills and six digs.

Senior setter Hannah Charland had a big match in a losing effort with 16 kills, seven points, three aces and 13 digs. Shonni Velasquez, Emma Trombley Zoey Varin each had four kills.

BEEKMANTOWN 3, PERU 0

BEEKMANTOWN — Jordynne Ales and Mikaela Frechette served six aces apiece while Shannon Ryan recorded 10 kills and three blocks to lead the unbeaten Eagles over the Indians.

Beekmantown won 25-11, 25-7, 25-11.

Freshman Michaela Lafountain also had a strong game with 18 assists while Evelyn Vicencio was credited with six. Emily Anderson contributed seven kills to the Eagle cause.

Brooke Wyand served two aces for Peru.

LAKE PLACID — Northeastern Clinton wore down Lake Placid 25-21, 25-20, 29-27 to break into the win column.

Brianna McCoy had 10 kills and a block while Ellen Reid contributed 13 points with five kills and 10 digs. Setter Amanda Tallon was outstanding in playmaking with 25 assists while Emily Norris served four aces to go with 10 kills and 18 digs. Stephanie LaValley was credited with three kills and 13 digs.

Brenna Garrett served 11 points with three aces and also had three kills. Lindsey Howe finished with eight kills.

SARANAC — The Patriots continued their winning streak with match of wins of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16 in defeating the Chiefs.

Miranda Sheffer led AuSable Valley with 15 points, five aces and four kills while Noelle Miller had 12 points, three aces and 13 kills. Belle O’Toole had 16 assists Mirissa O’Neill had two blocks. Shelby Bourgeois finished with five kills and a block.

Ashley Byerley served nine points with four aces and three kills for Saranac. Ali Harpp poured in seven points while Sara Wood contributed with 10 kills, four points and three aces.
