PLATTSBURGH — Sunday’s regular season finale for the Plattsburgh State women’s tennis team against St. Lawrence University was cancelled due to inclement weather. There will not be a make-up date.
The Cardinals, who finished the regular season with a 7-3 record, will enter this weekend’s SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Division. The tournament begins Friday and runs through Sunday at the Binghamton Tennis Center. Plattsburgh’s first match is at 7 p.m. on Friday against Fredonia State.
Stick-n-puck, public skating this week
PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center will be holding stick-n-puck on Tuesday from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Public skating is set for Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Monster Dash to benefit AuSable Forks library
AUSABLE FORKS — A Monster Dash 5K will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 to benefit the AuSable Forks Free Library. Put on your scariest outfit and join the fun to help raise money for the library.
Early registration by Oct. 13 is $15 and race-day registration, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., will be $20. The race will start at 9 a.m. from the library. Mooers K of C sponsoring soccer shootout
MOOERS — The Mooers Knights of Columbus Council is sponsoring a boys and girls soccer shootout challenge Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Mooers Rec. Park. Participants must be between 10 and 14 years old as of Sept. 1. A proof of age is required. The accuracy of 15 shots determines scoring and is also aged-based. Town registering for youth volleyball program
PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is currently accepting registration forms for its four-week volleyball instructional program. The program runs for four Saturdays beginning Oct. 20 through Nov. 10 at Morrisonville Elementary School from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants must be between 8 and 12 years old. Parents can register their children by completing a form at the Town Offices on Banker Road by Oct. 17. Forms may also be submitted by mail. Phone registrations are not accepted. Peru runners compete in Rochester
ROCHESTER — Peru cross-country runners Cheyanne Dobozy and Andrew Downs competed in this year’s McQuaid Invitational held Sept. 29. Downs ran in the three-mile Varsity A boys’ race with a time of 18:09 and placed 127th of 176 runners. Dobozy ran in the Varsity A girls’ race and finished in 20:05, placing 63rd out of 172 runners.
Saranac Boosters golf winners announced
PLATTSBURGH — The Saranac Booster Club has announced the winners of this year’s Fall Classic Golf Tournament held Sept. 23 at The Barracks Golf Course. The four-person team of Ed Yanchitis, John Morgan, Rhett Colby and Bob Mookoski won the tournament. Second place went to Joe Graziane, Wayne Williams, John Drollette and Jim Lockwood. The third place team was Bill Siskavich, Chuck Wood, Billy Siskavich and Craig Favaro.

PHS ‘77 champions to appear at Homecoming
PLATTSBURGH — More than half the members of Plattsburgh High School’s 1977 undefeated CVAC championship football team will appear at Homecoming Weekend Oct. 12-13. Team members will be coming in from nine states.
The ‘77 team featured four First-Team offensive players and five First-Team defensive players. The team joined the 1947 team as the only PHS football teams to go undefeated.
Other weekend events include a parade, homecoming game and the Hall of Fame banquet.

MALONE — Anita Francis scored in overtime as Jreck Subs/H&R Block won 2-1 against Brand Construction Sunday in Malone Women’s Soccer League play.
Aundrea Sova scored first for Jreck Subs while Brand Construction’s Tammy Spinner scored with assists from Shannon McArdle and Tiffany King.
