Hard-hitting Adams Glass defeats Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Kyle Sprague went 5-for-5 and drove in three runs Thursday night as the Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team rolled to a 16-2 victory over Middlebury.

Adams Glass, which is 8-6-1 overall, improved to 3-1-1 in Vermont League play.

Nick Demarais also had a big offensive game as he added three hits, including a double and four RBI, for the Peru-based team. Nick Uliva chipped in with two hits, and Ryan McCall added a double and three RBI.

Alex Lamberton doubled, while Kevin Sousa, Luis Pepen-Matos, Kyle McCarthy and Jacob Kennedy contributed a single apiece.

“We pounded the ball tonight,” Adams Glass assistant coach Jim Reid said.

Adams Glass broke a 1-all tie with six runs in the top of the third inning and never looked back.

The beneficiary of the 16-run outburst was Kennedy, who went the distance for the pitching win. Kennedy struck out eight, allowed four hits and walked six.

“Jacob pitched well,” Reid said. “He got better near the end.”
