Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball All-Stars Tucker Geiger and Taylor Geiger, who both play for Keene, were misidentified in Thursday’s Press-Republican. Both players made the Division II team.

PLATTSBURGH — The Press-Republican has not received softball All-Star submissions from the following Champlain Valley Athletic Conference teams:

Registration needed for youth bureau tennis workshops

PLATTSBURGH — Registration will be needed for those wishing to take part in the free USTA 10-and-Under Tennis Workshops, which will be held throughout the summer and hosted by the Clinton County Youth Bureau.

For further information, or to pre-register, contact the Clinton County Youth Bureau, at 565-4750. The first workshop is scheduled for July 15.

St. Alexander’s/St. Joseph’s golf tourney Friday

PLATTSBURGH — The following are the hole assignments for the St. Alexander’s/St. Joseph’s Golf Tournament, to be held Friday at The Barracks Golf Course. Players are asked to arrive between 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to check in, receive their gift bags and enter the putting contest.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at noon. There will be hole-in-one contests are all par-three holes, with a $10,000 prize on one of them. Dinner, awards and additional raffles will follow the golf.

Plattsburgh U10 All- Stars go undefeated at Malone Tourney

MALONE — The Plattsburgh Little League U-10 All-Stars played their way to an undefeated finish in their six-team division at the Sullivan’s Auto (Malone) All-Star Tournament.

Every player made crucial contributions in the battle for the first-place trophy. Plattsburgh defeated Ogdensburg 9-6 and Massena 1-0 in Saturday’s games, and then defeated Malone — the only other unbeaten team — 3-1 in the semifinal Sunday.

In the championship game immediately following, Plattsburgh beat Ogdensburg again, scoring nine runs in the first inning en route to a 17-3 four-inning victory.

The team plays at the Ogdensburg Tournament this weekend.

Five-week youth tennis clinic

PLATTSBURGH — The Greater Plattsburgh Community Tennis Association will be hosting a five-week youth tennis clinic for youths age 6 to 18.

The program begins July 16 and meets on Tuesday’s from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Macdonough Hall tennis courts.

Players will be separated by age and skill level and all levels of play welcome. One of the sessions is targeted for high school players and will offer match play. The cost is $12 to 15 per week or $50 to 60 for an entire session.

CLINTONVILLE— Nineteen runners enjoyed the inaugural AuSable Valley Fun Run/Walk held July 8 at.

The runs will continue on Mondays through August 12 at AuSable Valley Central School, 1273 Route 9N, Clintonville, 12924.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Races begin at 6 p.m.

High Peaks Cyclery to host kids’ mini-tris

LAKE PLACID — This coming Monday will be the first of two kids’ mini-tris that will be hosted over the summer by High Peaks Cyclery.

The events will take place July 15 and Aug. 12 and kids can do the entire triathlon or just one or two legs as a team. The swim portion is 50 or 100 yards, the bike one or three miles, and the run one-half or one mile, depending on age and ability.

Registration at the two events will begin at 2:30 p.m., with the event starting at 3 p.m. The entry fee is $5. For more information, call Karen at 524-5862

.Saranac’s Marcil competing in wrestling nationals

PLATTSBURGH — Saranac’s Will Marcil will take part in this weekend’s Greco-Roman and Freestyle Nationals, being held in Fargo, North Dakota. Marcil will be competing in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle in the Cadet Division for wrestlers ages 15 and 16.

At the state meet held at Broome Community College in Binghamton, Marcil qualified for the nationals by finishing second in Greco-Roman and third in Freestyle at 152 pounds.

Racing tonight at Mohawk Raceway

AKWESASNE — Last weekend’s events at Mohawk International Raceway presented some epic battles, with Billy Dunn taking the win in the second round of the Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” Series and Jenna David capturing her first Sportsman feature win. Stephane Lebrun, Dan Ferguson and Jean Marc Larose all celebrated feature wins on a thrilling night.

Within Reason Delivery will be on hand tonight, featuring a full program of Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Bandits and Mod Lites as well as the Sportsman division, who were not originally on the schedule. By popular demand, they have been added to this week’s schedule with a non-points event. The top cars from each heat race will redraw for the top 12 starting positions for the 20 lap feature.

Pit gates and spectator area will open at 4 p.m. Heat race action will get underway at 7:30 p.m. Pit Admission is $25 with DIRTcar License and $30 without. Grandstand

admission is $12, with children 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Craumer memorial golf tourney on Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The following are the hole assignments for the Ernest “Dutch” Craumer Memorial Golf Tournament, to be held Saturday at Bluff Point Golf Course. Players are asked to arrive between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. to check in. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. There will be raffles, prizes and a BBQ to follow the tournament. Please feel free to join us at Meron’s following the tournament for a toast to the coach.
