Kilkeary golf tournament set for Aug. 12

PLATTSBURGH — The Mitchell Kilkeary Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 12 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. The format is four-person teams, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. A lunch buffet, hosted by the Butcher Block, will follow with prizes to be awarded. Entry fee is $70 per golfer and $280 for a team.

Viscontis compete at state Shooting Festival

CHAMPLAIN — Peter Visconti of Champlain, a member of the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club, recently came in first place in the prone match at the NYS Shooting Festival held in Rotterdam. Visconti fired an impressive 580 on the second day of shooting for a total of 1,148. He also took silver in the air rifle competition and bronze in the three-position match. Ed Hann of Galloway took the gold in the air rifle match, and Jim Perrin of Buffalo took the gold in the three-position match.

Andrew Visconti came in fifth in the prone match and the air rifle match and sixth in three-position in the Junior Division, firing career-best scores.

BYC gymnastics camp starts July 22

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Youth Commission is offering gymnastics camp the week of July 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Trudeau’s Gymnastics Center. For additional information, contact the BYC at or 561-1149.

Mickey’s Golf Tournament has openings

PLATTSBURGH — A limited number of openings remain for the fourth-annual Mickey’s Restaurant and Lounge Golf Tournament to be held July 28 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. The tournament is a four-person scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Following the tournament, a private player-appreciation party will be held at Mickey’s.

Entry is $75 per player if paid before July 15 and $85 per player if paid after. Hole sponsorships are also available. All net proceeds will benefit multiple sclerosis research. Champlain Fire Dept. hosting golf tourney

ROUSES POINT — The Champlain Fire Department will host its 7th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 21.

The tournament will once again be held at the North County Golf Club in Rouses Point. The format is a 4-person scramble with a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $65 for nonmembers, $50 for members needing a cart and $40 for members not needing a cart.

This fee includes greens fees, cart and meal to follow. Many games and prizes will be available and once again Parker’s Chevrolet has donated a hole-in-one wins a car special.

Saranac Inn offering clinics

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Inn Golf Club is offering clinics with Scott Delair.

The Junior Clinics, offerend every Tuesday at 10 a.m.. will work on chipping, pitching, irons, drivers and putters and is $15 per session.

The Ladies Clinics, offered every Wednesday at 10 a.m., will work on chipping, pitching, bunker play, fairway woods, drivers, iron play and course management techniques and is $15 per session.

Participating in any two clinics is rewarded with a $25 personal lesson, which originally is a $35 value.
