Shawn Turner, 26, of Rouses Point, is selected to play in the U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio in roller hockey.
Scott Moody and Matt Sames combine on a four-hit shutout and Frank Buksa belts a two-run homer in the opener while Neil Stevens adds a two-run double in the nightcap as the Plattsburgh Cardinals clinch the CVBL regular-season title with a 5-6, 5-4 sweep of the Midas Mudhens.
Defensive standout Tim Brown, a member of the Plattsburgh North Stars since the team’s beginning in 1991, leaves the team after he is relocated to an air base in California.

Robin Bouyea of L. Pugh Construction is named the most valuable player as the Nationals defeat the Americans 10-3 in the Adirondack Slo-Pitch Softball League All-Star Game.
Sheri Grandrath, 12, a seventh-grader at Westport, wins the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and the 200 individual medley for her age group at the Adirondack District AAU Junior Olympics in Clifton Park.
Plattsburgh Air Force Base pro Mel Chisum finishes second in the New York State Genesee Open with a round of 68.
MVP John Francis clubs a 3-run homer and adds 2 singles to lead the Northern Valley Baseball League stars to a 13-12 victory over CVBL stars. Winning pitcher Ken Fairchild and Mike Mitchell each collect 2 hits. Carly Rounds, Russ Keller, Jim Shutts and Mike Yelle contribute 2 apiece for the CVBL.
