---- — Youth bureau hosting free tennis workshops

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau will host several free USTA 10-and-Under Tennis Workshops this summer. Youth from throughout the county are encouraged to attend any of these free clinics.

The following clinics will be conducted: Monday, July 15, Plattsburgh, May Currier Park, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Tuesday, July 16, Ellenburg, Northern Adirondack High School, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, July 17, Saranac, Saranac High School, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Thursday, July 18, Rouses Point, Civic Center, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The clinics are suited for beginner tennis players. No prior experience is necessary. Boys and girls of all ages are invited to participate. Tennis racquets and balls will be provided and no pre-registration is necessary.

Corona Championship at NCGC July 7

ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club will be holding one of its more prestigious events on July 7 when the Corona Championship takes place. This is a medal play event that regularly includes the top golfers in the region.

NCGC announces junior golf winners

ROUSES POINT — The North County Golf Club has announced the winners in its first leg of the Junior Series.

They include: Ethan Votraw, Snead Group, 76; Scott Lafountain, Hagen Group, 54; and Nick Rowe, Nelson Group, 41. The next event will be played July 14.

NCGC to offer couples league on Wednesdays

ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club is offering a couples league on Wednesday evenings. Couples can sign up during the week leading up to the league night and will be paired with a new couple each week.

The cost each week for non-members is $18 per person for golf and cart, plus $4 a couple for prizes. Members of the club will only be required to pay cart fees if necessary and the weekly prize amount of $4.

The first week of play will be July 17 and the final week September 18. Tee times begin at 5:15 p.m. each week. To sign up or for more information, contact Head Professional Dustin Beauregard at NCGC (297-2582).

Bluff Point to host Kent-Delord House Museum event

PLATTSBURGH — The Old House, Old Course, Old Brewery Golf Tournament, to benefit The Kent-Delord House Museum, will take place Aug. 1 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The format is a four-person scramble, with a $400 per foursome entry fee that includes cart, greens fee and bag lunch.

There will be gross and net prizes, 50-50 raffle, mulligans and a putting contest. Make checks payable to The Kent-Delord House Museum and mail the entry form to Jack Bell, Tournament Director, 49 Grace Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., or hand deliver to the Bluff Point Pro Shop.

Bluff Point Senior Men’s Championship set for Aug. 22

PLATTSBURGH — The Senior Men’s Open Championship will be held Aug. 22 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. There will be an 8:30 a.m. modified shotgun start for the event, which benefits the Bluff Point Junior Golf Program. Entry deadline is Aug. 19.

Age groups include: Bronze, 55-59; White, 60-64; Gray, 65-69; Silver, 70-74; and Platinum, 75 and over. The lowest gross winner and the lowest net winner receive a 2014 Executive season pass to Bluff Point. Entry fee is $45 or $15 for pass holders and includes cart, lunch and awards. Make checks payable to Bluff Point Golf Resort.

All entry forms, with payment, and handicap verification must be returned to the Bluff Point Pro Shop by Aug. 19. The handicaps must be current for the 2013 season. Golfers ages 70 and over can play from the forward tees, with 2/3 handicap. For more information, contact Don Bainbridge at 563-5361.

Mission of Hope Golf Classic Aug. 16

PLATTSBURGH — The Ninth-Annual McSweeney’s Mission of Hope Golf Classic will be held Aug. 16 at The Barracks Golf Course. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children Feeding Children Program of the North Country Mission of Hope.

The tournament will be a two-person scramble with handicap. There are divisions for both men and women as well as a mixed division.

Mulligans as well as a 50-50 raffle are included. There will be a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

The entry fee for the tournament is $45 for Barracks members and $70 for non-members and includes golf, cart, many prizes, including unique Nicaraguan handicrafts and entry gifts. Also included is an all-you-can-eat buffet prepared by McSweeney’s and Delores Vivian of The Barracks. Golfers’ spouses may attend the buffet free of charge.

Business and individual sponsorships are available from $100 to $500.
