PERU — Olivia Carlsson’s goal in double overtime held as Plattsburgh High beat Peru 2-1 in girls’ Northern Soccer League play Friday.
Ashley Carpenter put Peru on the board 32 minutes into the first half off a header from a Lindsey Bushey direct kick.
With a one-goal deficit at halftime, Plattsburgh’s Adrienne Nye scored the equalizer from Brooke Knight with 11 minutes left.
After a scoreless first overtime, Carlsson fired a shot from 18 yards out to beat Peru’s keeper Shannon Bombard. Though the result wasn’t ideal, Peru coach Jackie Sullivan said she couldn’t ask for a better game from her players.
“This is a how a PHS/Peru game is supposed to be played,” Sullivan said. “Today’s game was very, very physical. Our defense held together and I was happy with our girls played with their individual matchups.”
Hornet keeper Karlie Neale collected 17 saves for the win while Bombard made 14 saves for the Indians.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Megan Reynolds scored with three minutes left in regulation as Chazy edged out Elizabethtown-Lewis.
After a first half possessed mostly by Chazy, Elizabethtown-Lewis evened out the play for the last half. On a throw in, Hannah Laurin passed the ball up field to Reynolds who beat a Lion defender and fired a shot to the upper right corner of the net from 18 yards out.
“We got outplayed in the first half, but bounced and made a run in the second,” Elizabethtown-Lewis coach Steve Denton said. “I was real happy with our defensive play. I thought Kylee Cassavaugh, Shonna Brooks and Crystal Grady had a good game.”
