Huber takes 2 firsts in UVM debut

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Former Beekmantown Central standout Jessica Huber, a freshman at the University of Vermont, won both the 55- and 300-meter dashes in her indoor track & field debut as a Catamount Saturday.

She also finished the 300 meters in a school-record time of 41.46. The Catamounts won the meet, beating the University of Hartford 89-41.

Cadieux SUNYAC goalie of the week

CORTLAND — Mathieu Cadieux of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team has been named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Goalie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 2.

Cadieux made 63 combined saves in a three-point weekend for Plattsburgh State to earn conference honors for the second time this season. On Friday night, the junior goaltender recorded 29 saves in a 3-3 tie at Cortland. Cadieux closed out the weekend with an outstanding 34-save performance on Saturday night as the Cardinals defeated previously-unbeaten Oswego State, 2-1. He turned away all nine shots he faced in the first period and stopped 25 of the 26 shots he saw the rest of the way.

Cadieux is 4-2-1 on the year with a 1.56 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.

Geneseo win

CHILI — Former Beekmantown standout Devon Anderson tossed in 13 points and grabbed four rebounds in his first collegiate start Saturday to help lead Geneseo to a 67-58 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology in the seventh/eighth-place game of the Wendy’s College Classic.

Anderson is a sophomore at Geneseo.
