CCC men drop one-point decision

“It’s not as if we’re getting blown out,” Daugherty reasoned. “Our biggest loss was to Jefferson by six points. We’ve lost by two in double overtime, by 3, by 2, and now by 1.

“The effort is there, but we have a lot of freshmen who are struggling to put together 40 minutes. That’s our goal, to get the players to understand they need to bring it for 40 minutes.”

Clinton CC will close out the pre-Thanksgiving schedule Monday night at Hudson Valley CC.

HERKIMER — The Generals jumped out to a commanding lead early and foiled any Saints’ comeback bid in handing North Country Community College its first loss of the season.

Herkimer (6-1) took a 47-31 lead by the break with a 3-point barrage. NCCC (5-1) got it under 10 points in the second half, but couldn’t close the deal.

“We got off to a slow start tonight and all game-long, it seemed as if we were trying to fight back,” NCCC Coach Chad Ladue said. “It seemed that every time we got it to single digits they would come back and hit a big three.”

Demetrius Mitchell scored 21 points and Johnnie Davis, 16, to lead Herkimer.
