Little League playoffs begin tonight

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Little League playoffs in the Major Division get under way tonight with two first-round games. The playoffs will be double elimination.

Michigans Plus, seeded No. 1, will take on No. 8 NuWay Car Wash at Penfield Park while City Police, the fifth seed, will meet up with No. 4 Hannaford at South Platt. All games will start at 5:45 p.m.

On Tuesday, No. 3 Ground Round will tangle with No. 6 Pepsi at Penfield with No. 2 McSweeney’s plays No. 7 VFW at South Platt.

Leavine golf tourney July 1

PLATTSBURGH — The 18th-annual Elizabeth “Mikey” Leavine Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for Tuesday, July 1 at The Barracks Golf Course. It is a nine-hole, three-person scramble with men/mixed and women’s divisions. The Calloway scoring system will be used. The cost is $29 per person for non-members and $12.50 per person for members.

The field is limited so prepayment is required by Friday, June 27. There are many off and on course prizes, including a raffle for a new flat screen TV, golf clubs and much more. Entry forms are available at The Barracks Golf Course or at www.bcsdk12.org, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. AuSable Valley holds senior awards night

CLINTONVILLE — AuSable Valley Patriots Athletics recently held its Senior/Athlete Awards and Recognition Night. The following received year end awards:

US Army Reserve Scholar/Athlete Award- Rachel Knapp, Elias Smith, Austin Facteau

US Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award- Miranda Sheffer, John Goodnough

Ray Kroc Award- Taylor Saltus, Shane Douglas

AuSable Valley Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award- Noelle Miller, Nick McDonald

AuSable Valley Athlete of the Year- Logan Snow, Dillon Savage
