Afzal leads Ticonderoga past Beekmantown

TICONDEROGA — Zeshan Afzal’s 46 was low round of the day for Ticonderoga on Friday in a 4-2 victory over Beekmantown in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf at the Ticonderoga Country Club.

Afzal, Duncan Bain, Connor Lawrie and Griffin Hughes won matches for the Sentinels.

Medalist for the match was the Eagles’ Alex Faruqi with a 41. Faruqi and Anthony Milanese picked up Beekmantown victories.

AuSable Valley 4½, Plattsburgh High 1½

PLATTSBURGH — Lucas Finnegan shot a 43 in high winds to claim medalist honors and lead the Patriots past the Hornets at Bluff Point Golf Resort.

Finnegan won match No. 2, and Kyle Hart and Riley Taylor followed with victories at No. 3 and No. 4. AuSable Valley’s Nate Devins halved the first match with Jake Messner, Ian Rennie halved with Mike Stetz at No. 5, and Austin Facteau halved with Jeremy Davies at No. 6.

Plattsburgh’s Matt Evans carded a 46 for his team’s best score of the day.

No. 1- Messner (PHS) and Devins halved, 47-47. No. 2- Finnegan (AV) def. Svarplaitis. 43-57. No. 3- Hart (AV) def. Gosrich, 45-50. No. 4- Taylor (AV) def. Evans, 44-46. No. 5- Stetz (PHS) and Rennie halved, 53-53. No. 6- Davies (PHS) and Facteau halved, 50-50.



WILLSBORO — Nick Arnold was medalist on the day with a 44 at the Willsboro Golf Club to lead the Warriors to a 5½-½ win over the Eagles in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference golf on Friday.

Arnold, Zach Pierson, Paul Fine-Lease, Tanner Graves and Warren Jackson won matches for the Warriors, while Connor Sheehan halved his match with the Eagles’ Casey Halloran.

Jesse Misarski turned in the low round for Westport with a 50.
