Hitless in Ticonderoga

Hannah Ross tosses a no-hitter in the Sentinels' win over Northeastern Clinton

TICONDEROGA — Hannah Ross sat down all but one batter Wednesday, pitching a complete-game no-hitter as Ticonderoga blanked Northeastern Clinton 6-0 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball.

Ross, a sophomore, struck out 10 batters and walked one.

“Hannah had very good control of her pitches (Wednesday) and was able to keep NCCS off-balance at the plate,” Ticonderoga coach Shelly Young said. “We played strong defensively the entire game, committing no errors, which is key. It was a 0-0 game until the fourth inning, when we were able to put some hits together.”

Sadie Hamel sparked the offensive spurt with a double, and Kylie Austin, Lexi Moore and Taylor Dorsett added singles. The Sentinels plated four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Moore and Haleigh Wright both ended up with two hits, and Carly Campney doubled.

Myranda Miller suffered the setback for the Cougars.

Lake Placid took an early lead, but Beekmantown scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

“Lake Placid is a high-caliber-playing team and was a tight-playing team,” Beekmantown coach Joni Moschelle-Griffin said. “Beekmantown continued to push through adversity and worked together to our goals.

“Both teams continually hit and used the bunt game to keep each other on their toes.”
