Ticonderoga knocks off Moriah in CVAC softball

TICONDEROGA — Nicole Fuller tagged three hits, while Haleigh Wright and Savannah Bezon each added two in Ticonderoga’s 7-2 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference defeat of Moriah Tuesday.

Kylie Austin had nine strikeouts for the Sentinels on the mound.

“Kylie Austin had a good game on the mound (Tuesday),” Ticonderoga coach Shelly Young said. “She had help with some great defensive plays from first baseman Taylor Dorsett.”

The Vikings opened the game with Lauren Brace hitting a double to score the first run.

The Sentinels, though, answered with two runs. In the fifth inning, Ticonderoga pulled ahead with two more tallies on three singles from Fuller, Carley Campney and Sadie Hamel.

The Sentinels scored on two more occasions in the sixth.

Lauren Brace had a double for Moriah.

Plattsburgh High 12, Saranac Lake 2

PLATTSBURGH — Lauren Stanley had 10 strikeouts to lead the Hornets past the Red Storm.

Katie Burges suffered the loss in four-plus innings of work for Saranac Lake.

Plattsburgh High finished with 12 runs on six hits in the ballgame.

Keene 14, Johnsburg 8

NORTH CREEK — Taylor Geiger went 1-for-3, including a double, on three runs scored for the Beavers.

Geiger also earned the pitching victory in a complete-game performance.

Keene’s Hanna Whitney added a double and scored on two occasions.

Valeri Gereau and Dezoré Cleveland each had two hits for the Jaguars.
