MALONE — On May 3, a youth team made up of bowlers from Plattsburgh’s North Bowl Lanes and Malone’s Lucky Strike Lanes won the New York State Scratch Team Division Championship held at Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
Individual scratch scores for the team included Jonathan Brown (225-246-238-709), Jonathan Bowman (220-229-226-675), Ryan Douglas (191-234-201-626) and Seth Pecore (215-200-247-662) for a 2672 total. The team won a $1,000 USBC Scholarship check.
The original team, which qualified for the state tournament, also included Ryan Munson. Munson and Bowman, however, also qualified for another team in a different division that bowled at the same time period in the tournament. One of the two had to bowl for the scratch team and the other for the Division A handicap team.
Munson selected the handicap team to bowl with James St. Dennis, Dennon Walantus and Munson’s sister, Sara. Pecore replaced Munson on the scratch team and Walantus replaced Bowman on the handicap team.
This marks the second time that Douglas and Bowman have paired together to win a state team championship. In 2008, the team of Taylor Chapple, Bowman, Douglas and James LaDuke won the state Division B tournament.
