SARANAC LAKE — Beekmantown pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh inning Saturday and withstood Saranac Lake’s upset bid for a 4-2 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball.
Quenton Barber, who took over for starter Brandon Buksa in the sixth inning, was the winning pitcher and Trent Fitzgerald went the route in taking the loss. Buksa and Barber combined to allow four hits, while Fitzgerald surrendered six.
Justin Stevens rapped a triple and single for Beekmantown and Brantley Marion added a double and single.
Blake Darrah’s double was one of the four Saranac Lake hits.
Beekmantown scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead. But the Red Storm evened it with a run in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
