NAC boys, Lake Placid girls win in tennis

LAKE PLACID — The Northern Adirondack boys won both doubles matches Thursday afternoon as the Bobcats edged out a 3-2 victory at Lake Placid in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference tennis.

Scott Kellett and Jared Brunelle combined for a win at No. 1 doubles, while Darien Velasquez and Blake Forkey teamed for a victory at No. 2.

Ethan Warick won by forfeit at No. 3 singles for the Bobcats’ deciding point. Georgia O’Leary and David Knapik won singles matches for the Blue Bombers.

On the girls’ side, Brenna Garrett won in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles to help lead the Blue Bombers to a 4-1 victory.

Victoria O’Leary and Kayla Hudson also won singles matches for Lake Placid, while the No. 1 doubles team of Sophie Morelli and Liza Marinis was victorious.

Amber Collins and Katelyn Snide accounted for the Bobcats’ win at No. 2 doubles.

No. 1- G. O’Leary (LP) def. S. Warick, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1). No. 2- Knapik (LP) def. Garceau, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. No. 3- E. Warick (NAC) won by forfeit.


No. 1- Kellett & Brunelle (NAC) def. Chase & Zhang, 6-4, 6-2. No. 2- Velasquez & Forkey (NAC) def. Briggs & Kirby, 6-0, 6-2.


Lake Placid 4, Northern Adirondack 1


No. 1- V. O’Leary (LP) def. Brunelle, 7-5, 6-1. No. 2- Garrett (LP) def. Pitts, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). No. 3- Hudson (LP) def. Lamb, 6-2, 6-2.


No. 1- Morelli & Marinis (LP) def. Lashway & LaFountain, 6-1, 6-2. No. 2- Collins & Snide (NAC) def. Paterson & Phillip, 6-3, 6-4.
