Seton bests Saranac in CVAC golf

PLATTSBURGH — Seton Catholic’s depth overcame Saranac’s Austin LaDieu on Wednesday.

LaDieu carded a 36 at The Barracks and was medalist on the day. But the Knights had five golfers shoot in the 40s on the way to a 5-1 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf.

Joe Zalis, who lost his No. 1 match to LaDieu, had the low round for the Knights with a 42.

But Adam Tedford (45), Chris Kustos (47), David LaFountain (48) and Nick Favreau (43) all won their matches for Seton Catholic, which got its fifth point by forfeit.

PLATTSBURGH — All six Lake Placid golfers shot 45 or less at Bluff Point on the way to a shutout of the Hornets.

Miles Lussi was medalist on the day with a 40, while Bjorn Kroes and Ryan Kane each added a 42, Pat Kane a 43, Lucas Strack a 44 and Kiefer Casler, 45.

J.D. Side carded a career-low 46 for Plattsburgh High.

SARANAC LAKE — Dustin Fischer recorded two birdies and seven pars on the way to a two-under 34 for medalist honors.

Ethan Sawyer and Danny Strack each added a 38 for the Red Storm, while Carley Sawyer, Kyler Darrah and Tanner Courcelle also won their matches for host Saranac Lake.

Jordan Lamere, who lost his No. 2 match to Fischer, was low for the Cougars with a 42 and Chris Kokes added a 49.
