Clinton County Mariners schedule tryouts

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Mariners American Legion baseball program has scheduled tryouts for its U19, U16 and newly-formed U14 teams this weekend.

Tryouts for the U14 team will be held Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Saranac Central School field and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Saranac.

Tryouts for the U19 and U16 teams will take place Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Chip Cummings Field.

Learn to play Disc Golf clinic to be held 

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring a Learn to Play Disc Golf Clinic for all area residents. Here is your chance to learn how to play this fun and popular activity. 

Recreation staff will be available from 6-7 p.m. on May 20 to lead folks through the course and teach the basics of disc golf. All discs will be provided. 

The 18-hole course is located at the Cadyville Recreation Park on Goddeau Road. There are no fees to play the course and it is open year round from dawn to dusk.

“America’s Boating Course” to be offered 

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Sail and Power Squadron is offering “America’s Boating Course”, a course in basic boating safety. The course will be offered at Clinton Community College from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on May 20 and 22. 

Learn the fundamentals of safe boat handling and operation in one comprehensive classroom course. This course meets state specific and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators requirements for certification and completion of the course is accepted by most insurance companies for a reduction in the cost of boating insurance.
