10 YEARS AGO (2004)

Donte Ray, Devin Ray, Mark Rabideau, Joe Akey, Ben Reynolds and Ryan Volkman are named to the All-State team in boys’ basketball.

Courtney Coryea, Kari Garrand, Brynn Fessette, Courtney Drown, Meagan Tubbs and Monica Angelosanto are picked for the All-State team in girls’ basketball.

Brian Mehan belts a 2-run homer in a 12-run second and adds another 2-run blast as PHS outslugs Peru 19-10 in baseball.

Beekmantown wrestler Travis James places 7th out of 29 in the 129-pound weight class in the War at the South Jersey Shore.

In an All-German foreign-exchange student match at No. 1 singles, Seton Catholic’s Julian Schrout defeats Saranac’s Nora Klie 6-3, 6-4.

Crown Point’s Jeremy Dorr and Chazy’s Andy Goodwin pitch no-hitters in a game won by the Panthers 1-0 on a walk, 2 stolen bases and a passed ball.

20 YEARS AGO (1994)

Malone’s Paul Pfaff and Saranac’s Pat Clancy qualify for the National Cadet Freestyle Wrestling Tournament to be held in Missouri in July.

Hockey standout Len Pereira and track star Jen Wiseman are named Plattsburgh State Athletes of the Year.

Former Plattsburgh High standouts Jason Miller, Warren Horner and Gary Duquette of the College of Saint Rose are named to the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Star Team. Miller led his team in batting (.438), home runs (8) and RBI (43) while Horner batted .319 while starring at shortstop. Duquette posted a 4-0 record on the mound.

Malone’s Missy West, Brushton-Moira’s Kerry Chapin and Becca Robinson of Schroon Lake are named to the All-State Team in basketball.

25 YEARS AGO (1989)

Saranac Lake’s Scott Moody strikes out 11 and pitches a 3-hitter to best Beekmantown’s Jeff Garrant, 2-1. Garrant allows just 2 hits while fanning eight.

John Becker pitches a 2-hitter with 16 strikeouts in Schroon Lake’s win over Lake Placid.
