City to host Youth Fun Run Series
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department will be hosting a Spring Youth Fun Run Series. Races will be held on the Terry Gordon Bike Path behind the City Recreation Center. The runs will take place May 12, May 19, June 2 and June 9.
Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. in the City Recreation Center Gym and runs will start at 5:15 p.m. Races will consist of the quarter-mile (ages 6 & under), half-mile (ages 7 to 10) and mile (ages 11 to 14 & parents).
The series is free, and each session will begin with warm-up stretching and running tips for all participants inside the gym. A healthy snack will be provided by the city to each participant. For more information on this series, call Justyn Gordon at 518-726-6922.
Spring Fling Pike Derby to be held May 10
CHAZY — The Spring Fling Pike Derby will be held May 10 from sunrise to 6 p.m. The weight station will be at the Happy Pike Snack Bar at 559 Lake Shore Road in Chazy from 2 to 6 p.m. Fish must be taken from Lake Champlain.
The entry fee is $20 per person, $15 for under 16 and 65-plus. Registration is at the Weathercock Bar or Happy Pike Snack Bar. There will be cash prizes for the top five at Northern Pike by weight. All State DEC rules apply.

Plattsburgh State teams conducting skills clinics
MORRISONVILLE — The Clinton County Youth Bureau, Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department and the Plattsburgh State baseball and softball teams will conduct their Annual Baseball Skills Clinic and 2014 Pitch-Hit-Run competition May 7, 2014 at East Morrisonville Recreation Park on the Bullis Road in Morrisonville.
The free Baseball Skills Clinic, presented by the Plattsburgh State baseball team, and Softball Skills Clinic, presented by the Plattsburgh State softball team, will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. The free Pitch-Hit-Run competition for boys and girls 7-14 years of age (as of July 17, 2014) will begin at 6 p.m. All participants must submit a copy of their birth certificate when they register. Metal cleats are not allowed!
