Seton Catholic slips past AuSable Valley

CLINTONVILLE — Olivia Nachbauer and Alyse Clark won the pivotal No. 1 doubles match to help Seton Catholic secure a 3-2 win over AuSable Valley in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ tennis Thursday.

Nachbauer and Clark prevailed 6-2, 6-3, and the Knights received singles victories from Kelli Ryan at No. 1 and Lauren Richter at No. 2.

Katherine McDonald kept the Patriots in the mix by winning the third singles match in straight sets. Brittany Smith and Ashley Martin cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 result in No. 2 doubles.

No. 1- Ryan (SC) def. Guynup, 6-1, 6-1. No. 2- Richter (SC) def. Hall, 6-1, 6-2. No. 3- McDonald (AV) def. Ma, 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles

No. 1- Nachbauer & Clark (SC) def. McDonald & Lawrence, 6-2, 6-3. No. 2- Smith & Martin (AV) def. Du & Huo, 6-0, 6-0.
