McCormick to be starter for May 4 run

WESTPORT — The EKMW track and field team will hold a 5-kilometer run and one-mile walk Sunday, May 4, in honor of former coach Dan McCormick. The event will be hosted by Camp Dudley on the Dudley Road in Westport, beginning at 9 a.m.

McCormick, who served as an assistant track coach at Plattsburgh State and coach and guidance counselor at Westport Central, is recovering from a stroke he suffered on Dec 18. He will be the starter for the May 4 races.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the track and field team for equipment and uniforms. Runners can visit to enter online.

Robert Blanchard gets hole-in-one

HENDERSON, Nev. — Robert Blanchard of Plattsburgh scored a hole-in-one April 15 at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.

Playing on the 139-yard, 17thof the Lexington Course, he holed-out with a 9 iron. Witnesses were John Severson and Rauil Martinez.

AuSable Valley GC league play starts today

AUSABLE FORKS — The AuSable Valley Golf Course men’s league held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays will start April 21, 22 and 24.

The ladies’ league will start May 7, and there will be an informational meeting at 6 p.m. April 30 at the golf course.

Barracks men’s league meeting April 22

PLATTSBURGH — The organizational meeting for the 2014 Barracks Men’s Golf League will be held at 6 p.m. April 22 at The Barracks Clubhouse. The format is two-man teams with full handicap. There are 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. leagues, and the 5 p.m. league has limited openings.
