Adams Glass takes down Colchester

COLCHESTER, Vt. — Up one run, with no outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Adams Glass head coach John Demarais needed a relief pitcher to minimize damage, if nothing else.

Enter Nick Demarais.

The Peru graduate surrendered one run before ending the sixth with a strikeout, helping Adams Glass (1-3) to a 4-2 win over Colchester in Senior Babe Ruth baseball Tuesday.

“Kevin Sousa did a superb job with the start on the mound, but ran into some trouble in the sixth,” assistant coach Jim Reid said. “He gave up two singles and hit the next guy to load the bases, so the coaching staff was forced to make a decision. We brought in (Demarais), and he got the job done under pressure.”

Ryan McCall stole home in the seventh to add an insurance run and solidify the win.

Sousa was credited with the win on the mound, firing 10 strikeouts. Nick Demarais earned the save.

Keith Mitchell totaled three hits for Colchester.

“We continue to get better,” head coach John Demarais said. “We’re finding ways to win baseball games, and I’m very proud of the team.”

Adams Glass will play host to Norfolk Post 925 today at Peru Senior High for 6 p.m.
