The Lake Champlain Turkey Talkers host NWTF banquet

PERU — The Lake Champlain Turkey Talkers are hosting their seventh annual National Wildlife Turkey Federation hunting heritage banquet.

The banquet will be held at the VFW Post 309 in Peru. Annually the event offers $250,000 in scholarships to local area students for continuing education.

The Turkey Talkers also support the community children through the local “Toys for Kids Program” at Christmas. During Thanksgiving holidays, through the “Turkey Hunter Care Program” supports the local Salvation Army by donating turkeys to struggling families that otherwise may have missed out on a turkey dinner. They also support our “Hero’s at Home” and have donated to Hospice of the North Country and sponsored a youth “Take Aim Program” contest. The Turkey Talkers have also donated 3,000 pounds of seed corn and crabapple seeding last year through their “Conservation Seed and Appleseed Programs” to local landowners.
