---- — Lakers holding signups Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — The Lake Champlain Lakers AAU basketball program will be holding registration Sunday at OLVA gym from 2-4 p.m.

The Lake program runs March through June. This year’s program will begin with the camp format starting the weekend of March 16 and continue with the travel portion May through June.

ADK event slated for Wednesday

PLATTSBURGH — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club Wednesday for their weekly Wednesday Walk About Town.

Team leader of the event is Lynn Valenti and they will be metting at 3 p.m. on the steps of City Hall.

Outdoors Club meeting set

CHAZY — The Champlain Valley Outdoors Club will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday at the Grange Hall in West Chazy. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Beartown Ski Area open for night skiing

PLATTSBURGH — Beartown Ski Area will be open Friday for night skiing from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Regular weekend operation hours are in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Current ski conditions are excellent. For updated information call 561-3938.

Field House announces public skating

PLATTSBURGH — Officials at the Plattsburgh State Field House have announced public skating sessions for the month of March.

Public skating sessions are scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on the following dates: March 10, 16 and 17. These dates will be the final public skating sessions of the season.

Admission is $2 for the public and $1 for SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty and staff with valid college identification. Skate rentals are available at the same rates.

MVAC senior game set for March 19

SCHROON LAKE — The Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference will be holding its annual senior game on March 19 at Schroon Lake Central School.

The girls will be playing the first game starting at 6 p.m, followed by the boys.

All the league awards will be given out between games. Donations will be accepted at the door with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

P’burgh State postpones Saturday’s games

PLATTSBURGH — Due to poor weather conditions in and around the lower New York area, the baseball doubleheader between Plattsburgh State and St. Joseph’s College originally scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday has been postponed.

The Cardinals will open their 2013 campaign on Sunday at noon with a doubleheader at Farmingdale Sate.

Saranac AAU sets meeting for Wednesday

SARANAC — The Saranac Cardinals Girls AAU basketball program will have an informational meeting on Wednesday 6 p.m. in the large instruction room in the High School.

All interested girls from fifth through 11th grade should attend this meeting with a parent. Tournament dates, program cost, tryout times and hotel information will be handed out at this meeting.
