Hayden Guay, Kyle Bisonette, Nathan Reynolds, Nick Averill and Jacob Kennedy rapped out the lone hits for the Eagles (2-1, 2-1).
Groshans struck out 10 while pitching into the sixth inning. Kyle Bisonette, who was not involved in the decision, struck out seven and allowed one earned run in going the first five innings for Chazy. The loss went to Josh Peete in relief.
After Crown Point took an 11-3 lead with its eight-run sixth, Chazy came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning and then pushed across four runs in the seventh to make it interesting.
The Eagles had the tying runs on base when the final out was recorded on a ground ball to first base.
“We knew going in that Crown Point is a good team — they’re always good and well-coached,” Chazy coach Brian Norcross said. “Their kids hit the ball well and we knew it was going to be a tough challenge for us.
“Kyle pitched real well for us, as did Groshans for them. I was proud of our kids for not quitting and making it interesting at the end. We battled back and had the tying runs on base when they got the final out.”
