Opening-day no-hitter in Chazy

CHAZY — Kyle Bisonette and Zach Brothers combined on a no-hitter Monday as Chazy opened its Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference baseball season with a 10-0 victory over Westport.

Bisonette struck out 13 over the first five innings and Brothers fanned five over the final two. Bisonette allowed one walk and hit one.

Westport’s best chance for a hit came in the second inning when shortstop Craig Botten made a nice play on a ground ball hit up the middle.

Bisonette also had a big day at the plate with a triple, two doubles and three RBI.

Hayden Guay added two singles for Chazy, while Jacob Kennedy and Josh Barriere each doubled, with Kennedy driving in three runs. Chazy had nine hits in all, with Botten and Nick Averill getting the other two.

The hosts scored five runs in the second and added four more in the third for a 10-0 lead after three..

Sam Napper, relieved by Dylan Limlaw in the third inning, was the losing pitcher.

CROWN POINT 21, E’TOWN-LEWIS 5

CROWN POINT — The Panthers pushed across at least one run in all six innings as they rolled past the Lions.

Robbie Macey (6), Joe Foote (7) and Dan Groshans (3) combined to strike out 16 batters and throw a one-hitter. Macey captured the pitching victory for Crown Point (1-1, 1-0).

Groshans was also strong from the plate, belting four hits, including a double, and knocking in seven runs. Foote added three hits and three RBI, while DuShane had a pair of hits and scored five runs. Luke Finamore had three RBI on two hits.

The lone hit of the game for Elizabethtown-Lewis was an RBI double by Justin LaPier in the sixth inning.

Zac Noka-Bailey took the loss on the mound for the Lions.
