GEORGIA, Vt. — Adams Glass took advantage of two errors in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday and then held on in the bottom of the inning for a 7-6 win over Franklin County (Vt.) in Senior Babe Ruth baseball.
Nick Uliva and Jacob Kennedy each had two hits to lead Adams Glass.
Franklin County knotted the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth. Then Kevin Sousa scored the go-ahead run in the seventh after an error at third base, and another error allowed Uliva to make it 7-5.
Jake Akey sacrificed in a run in the bottom half to put Franklin County within one with one out. But Sousa took the mound for Adams Glass (17-6-1, 6-1-1 Vermont League) and induced two outs to end the game.
Sousa earned the save, Ethan King picked up the win and Kennedy pitched the first three innings.
“We came out flat and struggled with our bats,” Adams Glass coach John Demarais said. “When we were able to put runners on, we executed our running and bunting game to get a tough win.
“Jacob and Ethan did a great job on the mound for us. Sousa came in for the save and was lights out after pitching a complete game on Monday against Plattsburgh Elks.”
Adams Glass scored three runs in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead before Franklin County plated one in the bottom half and two in the sixth.
Kyle Sprague drove in two runs for Adams Glass, and King hit a double.
Tom Akey and Ben Milward led Franklin County with two hits apiece, including a two-run home run by Milward in the third.
Adams Glass will face the Norfolk Rovers at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Ogdensburg.
