---- — Malark, Siskavich hold lead in Fun Golf League

DANNEMORA — Vern Malark and Bill Siskavich have taken the early lead at 8-1 in the Dannemora Fun Golf League.

Bob Donah and Joe Varin hold second at 6½-2½. A three-way tie for third place with a 6-3 are Bob LaDuke and Rich Roberts, Bill Fornecker and Larry Blair, and Steve and Ed Liberty.

Tee off for June 6 is 1:07 p.m.

Nelson hits first hole-in-one

AUSABLE FORKS — Roger Nelson hit his first career hole-in-one June 1 at the AuSable Valley Golf Course.

Nelson hit the ace on the 174-yard second hole using a Callaway driver.

Witnesses to the hole-in-one were P.J. Beattie, Mark Aubin, Mike Nugent and Neal Jacobson.

Killington Junior Golf Championship set for June 24-27

KILLINGTON, Vt. — The American Junior Golf Association will head to Green Mountain National Golf Course in Killington, Vt. as the nations top junior golfers compete in the Killington Junior Golf Championship June 24-27.

The tournament practice round will be June 24, while tournament rounds will be played June 25-27.

Tee times for the first two rounds will run from 7–8:50 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees for the first wave, and from 11:40 a.m.–1:30 p.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees for the second wave at Green Mountain National Golf Course.

After the second round, the tournament field will be cut to the top 50% in the boys and girls fields. Exact numbers will be posted at the tournament. Final round tee times will run from 7–8:50 a.m. Guests are welcome to attend and admission is free. For more information, visit ajga.org.

The AuSable Forks Fastpitch League begins season

AUSABLE FORKS — The AuSable Forks Fastpitch League opened its season with three games May 18.

20 Main defeated Gordon Oil behind pitcher Kellen Nolan and Josh Douglass’ bat. In game two, Egglefields/Graymont won 4-2 over Loremans behind a strong pitching performance from Andrew Bombard, who struck out 13 and allowed just four hits. K.C. Zaumetzer hit a solo home run and Chris LaMountain broke a one-all tie with a two-run homer run. Chad Garcia hit an RBI double to seal the game.

In the final game, Sandy’s Hair Hut defeated Northline by scoring 10 runs in the seventh inning.

Games take place Tuesday-Friday with single games being played Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday night, two games take palce witht eh nightcap starting at 8 p.m. Concession stand is open Friday night.

AuSable Valley athletics awards night set for Wednesday

CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Athletics and Booster Club will be hosting the 2012-13 AVCS Senior/Athlete Awards Night on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle/high school auditorium.

A brief introduction, followed by the awards ceremony and video will complete the evening. The night of recognition is open to the general public and supports of the AVCS Patriots.

Egglefield Memorial golf tournament scheduled for June 19

LAKE PLACID — The Spencer Egglefield Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Craig Wood Golf Course in Lake Placid June 19.

Tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The tournament will have four-person teams with a fee of $30 for members and $70 for nonmembers. It will include a dinner of chicken or steak.

The event is to benefit ACAP programs all over Essex County and is sponsored by Egglefield Ford.

Hit a hole-in-one, win a new car.

Lions baseball holding signups Wednesday

MALONE — The Bob Barton Lions Baseball League will hold sign-ups Wednesday at the Franklin Academy High School gymnasium lobby from 3-5 p.m.

This is for the Malone team for ages 13-16. Cost to play is $35 per player.

Bud Light Platinum Shootout slated for June 15-16

PLATTSBURGH — The 2nd Bud Light Platinum Shootout will be held on June 15-16.

This is a two-day tournament with two different formats on two different courses for two-man teams.

On June 15, Bluff Point will host the ‘Carver’ format — eight scramble, eight best-ball and two holes of alternate shot with handicaps added together and divided by three or the lowest single handicap to establish the team handicap.

On June 16, The Barracks will host the ‘Dodds’ format — scrambling on the par 4s, both scores on the par 3s and alternate shot on the par 5s. Handicaps are added together and divided by three to establish team handicap.

There are prizes for each day, as well as prizes for the overall winners, tee times for both will begin around 8:30 a.m. The cost of the tournament is $80 per player and $30 each day for green fees and carts. Participants must enter both events. Field is limited to players with verified handicaps only and entries must be paid in advance on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Plattsburgh Distributing, Bluff Point and The Barracks will be providing a number of prizes, while Dukes Diner will provide ‘stunners’ on Sunday prior to tee time.

Forcier Memorial golf tournament scheduled for June 28

WESTPORT — The Westport Country Club will hold a memorial golf tournament in memory of Doris Forcier on June 28.

Proceeds will benefit High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care. Pre-registration is required.

Tournament costs are $80 per person or $320 for a team of four. Sign in is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration deadline is June 19.

This event includes 18 holes of golf with cart, cash & gift prizes, light lunch, buffet dinner, raffles, four-person scramble, mullions, and two holes with a hole-in-one prize ($10,000 cash and a new 2013 Ford Fusion). Teams of four are encouraged to participate but all players are welcomed. Less than four players registering together may be teamed up with others to share a cart.
