---- — ADK chapter picnic open to public

PLATTSBURGH — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club on Friday for its June picnic at the Town Hall at Point au Roche State Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m. It will also be a celebration of the chapter’s 65th anniversary.

Bring your own place setting, beverage, something to grill, and a dish to share. Park at the Deep Bay parking lot past the Nature Center.


‘Mikey’ Leavine golf tourney June 25

PLATTSBURGH — The 17th-Annual Elizabeth “Mikey” Leavine Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25 at The Barracks Golf Course. It will be a nine-hole, three-person scramble with men/mixed and women’s divisions. The Calloway scoring system will be used.

The cost is $28 per person for non-members and $12.00 per person for members. The field is limited so prepayment is required by Friday, June 21.

There will be many off- and on-course prizes, including a raffle for a new flat screen TV, golf clubs and much more.

Entry forms are available at The Barracks Golf Course or at, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. The proceeds of this tournament go toward the presentation of six $500 scholarships in Mrs. Leavine’s name.

Chasm Riders hold weeky bike races

AUSABLE CHASM — The Chasm Riders Mountain Bike Races were held Sunday. The races are held every Sunday with registration beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Malone Lions baseball sign-up June 5

MALONE — The Bob Barton Lions Baseball League will hold registration on Wednesday, June 5, from 3-5 p.m., in the Franklin Academy high-school gym lobby.

The registration is for the Malone team and the age group is 13-16. The cost is $35 per player.

Saranac Booster Club to meet tonight 

SARANAC — The Saranac Booster Club will at 7 p.m. today at the high school. The meeting is open to the public.


Second Bud Light Shootout slated for June 15-16

PLATTSBURGH — The Second Bud Light Platinum Shootout, sponsored by Duke’s Diner, Plattsburgh Distributing, Bluff Point Golf Resort and The Barracks Golf Course, will be held on June 15-16.

It will be a two-day tournament with two different formats on two different course for two-man teams. On Saturday, Bluff Point will host the Carver format — eight scramble, eight best-ball and two holes of alternate shot with handicaps added together and divided by three or the lowest single handicap to establish the team handicap. On Sunday, The Barracks will host the Dodds format — scrambling on the par 4s, both scores on the par 3s and alternative shot on the par 5s. Handicaps are added together and divided by three to establish team handicap.

There will be prizes for each day, as well as prizes for the overall winners. Tee times for both event will begin around 8:30 a.m. Plattsburgh Distributing, Bluff Point and The Barracks will be providing a number of prizes while Duke’s Diner will provide its stunners on Sunday prior to tee time.

The cost is $80 per player for the tournament and $30 each day for green fees and carts. Participants must enter both events. The field is limited to players with verified handicaps only. Entries must be paid in advance on a first come first serve basis.
