CVBL race close from top to bottom

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Baseball League, which took last weekend off for the Memorial Day Holiday, is off to a competitive start to the 2013 season.

Following three weekends of doubleheaders, two games separate first and last place in the league.

The defending playoff champion Lyon Mountain Miners and Meron’s Expos are tied for first with 4-2 records, while the Fourth Ward Cardinals and Fourth Ward A’s are a game back at 3-3.

In noon twinbills today, the Cardinals host the Expos at South Acres Field, the A’s are in Saranac to play the Peabody’s Padres (2-4), and the Miners will be the visiting team at the Big Ball Diamond versus the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx.

Lefty Wilson Field is being used by the Clinton County Mariners today.

Line-ups for some of the teams could be a little different today due to college students having returned home, other college players leaving the area to return home and the start of American Legion baseball.
