BEEKMANTOWN — The Press-Republican received incorrect information for Monday’s girls’ tennis match between Beekmantown and Northeastern Clinton, and incorrectly identified the Eagles as the winner.

In No. 1 singles, the Cougars’ Abbie Miller defeated Olivia Wyand when Wyand was forced to withdraw due to illness.

Carpenter memorial golf tourney on Friday

PLATTSBURGH — Tee assignments have been announced for the Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday at The Barracks Golf Course. There will be a noon shotgun start. The tournament is still accepting teams. For more information, call Mike Jodoin, at 569-3304.

Carver Golf Series tee times announced

PLATTSBURGH — For the first time in many years, both of the previous Carver champions are paired together in the 73rd edition of the Carver Golf Series.

The team of Dave J. Durham and Bobby Dergham will be teeing it up with Tom Curle and Jerry Abrams. This featured matchup will take place Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Bluff Point Golf Resort.

The next event is the Bud Lite Platinum Tournament, this unique tournament with two-man teams is played on two different courses, Bluff Point on June 15th and The Barracks on June 16th using two different formats, the Carver format at Bluff Point and the Clydesdale format at the Barracks, with prizes for each day as well as an over all winner.

Seton Catholic’s Frenya to play in Lazio Cup

PLATTSBURGH — Keegan Frenya, a sophomore at Seton Catholic and member of both the Knights’ and Plattsburgh Football Club U16 Premier soccer teams, is representing the Eastern New York Olympic Development (ODP) State Team attending the Lazio Cup in the Latina Region — near Rome, Italy — which is one of the top-rated soccer tournaments in Europe.

The Region I team will be competing against Brazil, Fiorenina Academy and Atletico Boville Ernica Italia May 18-27.

Frenya will represent Region I at the Region I ID Tournament, June 7-9 at Rider University, in Lawrenceville, NJ. He also has been selected to attend the ODP ID Camp at Kutztown University, Penn. where players are identified for national team camp, pool and team participation.

High Peaks Mini Tri Series starts June 17

LAKE PLACID — The 2013 High Peaks Mini Triathlon Series will run every Monday night from June 17 to Aug.12. This is the 29th season of one of the longest running triathlon series in the U.S.

Participants should meet at the Mirror Lake Beach Area in Lake Placid. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., the Pre-race meeting will be at 6:15 p.m. and the races start at 6:30 p.m.

The triathlons consist of a 400-yard swim, a 12-mile bike ride and a three-mile run.

There will be post-race awards and raffle prizes at 8 p.m. There are individual and team categories.

Elizabethtown holding kickball tournament

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis class of 2015 will be holding a kickball tournament June 1 on the fields behind the Elizabethtown Social Center.

The tournament is for students in grades 7-12 and up, including adults.

It is a double-elimination tournament with six person teams.

The registration fee is $30 per team. Pre-registration is required by calling Lisa at 873-6594 by May 30. Forms are available at the ELCS website.

NYSEF holding annual golf tournament June 9

LAKE PLACID — The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) will host its 15th Annual Open Golf Tournament on June 9 at the Lake Placid Golf Club

The event, which is still open for entry, will include a four-person scramble, longest drive and closest to the pin contests, among other festivities. All funds generated by the tournament will go directly to support NYSEF’s winter sports athletes locally and around the state.

Registration will take place the morning of the tournament from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and players will tee off at 11 a.m. on the Mountain Course with a shotgun start. The entry fee, which includes greens fees, carts, raffle tickets, and an awards and cocktail/BBQ reception following the tournament, is $95 per person and $380 per team. Golfers of all abilities are invited to participate.

As a bonus for registering, players receive a free practice round June 8th after 2 p.m. or Monday morning after the event. In addition, discounted rooms are offered at the Crowne Plaza Resort for Sunday and Monday night at $89 per night.

Alzheimer’s Walk/5K Cross-Country fun Run June 15

SARANAC LAKE — The Alzheimer’s Walk and 5K Cross-Country Fun Run 2013 will be held at Saranac Lake High School. The event is planned for June 15.

Registration will be held at 10 a.m. The walk and run will start at 10:30 a.m.

Register as an individual or as a team. For the Fun Run, costumes are admired but not required.

Any individual raising $500 or more will be entered to win a grand prize. Every $500 raised means another chance to win. There will be refreshments, prizes and DJ Overneath Productions with Josh and Holly Clement.

This is a recreational walk and run sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center to raise awareness and funds for the Third Age Adult Day Center. The proceeds remain in the community to support programs and services.

B’town Booster Club Wrestling Golf Tourney June 15

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Booster Club Wrestling Golf Tournament will be held June 15 at the Barracks Golf Course. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start, and the tournament is a four-man scramble with no handicaps. The cost of $65 per person includes golf, cart, food and soda and water. Beer can be purchased at the Pro Shop.
