---- — Clinton County Mariners to hold fundraiser

WEST PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Mariners American Legion Baseball Organization will be holding a benefit dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 at American Legion Post 1619. The fundraiser is being used to raise money for the Senior and Junior teams competing in the state tournament in Utica. Both teams won District IV championships two weekends ago.

The cost of the dinner is $10 per person and includes a choice of roast pork or chicken and biscuits. For more information, contact Harold LeClaire, at 569-4936, or Hummer Rock, at 578-2361.

Chase records hole-in-one at Harmony

PORT KENT — Matt Chase recorded a hole-in-one on the par-three, 10th hole at Harmony Golf Club on Friday, July 26. Chase used a nine-iron and his hole-in-one was witnessed by Jeff Chase.

North Country Golf Club lists announcements

ROUSES POINT — Bill and Dawn Glaude won week No. 1 in the North Country Golf Club Couples League. The Glaudes shot a net score of 31.7 playing a three scramble, three best ball, three alternate shot format.

David and Kathy Ashline were second with a 32.5, while Leo and Jen Trombley finished third. The couples league plays every Wednesday, with tee times beginning at early at 4 p.m. and lasting until 6 p.m. Couples can sign up by calling the golf shop any day prior to Wednesday.

The NCGC Junior Major was postponed. It was originally scheduled for July 28 and a new date will be announced later in the week. Juniors can still play for fun.

The NCGC Member/Guest is filling up fast. As of Saturday afternoon, 48 teams had signed up for the annual men’s event. All members wishing to enter a team must do so by July 30 at 6 p.m.

More than 200 finishers compete in fun run

CADYVILLE — Wednesday’s fun run at the Cadyville Recreation Center had over 200 finishers.

Jeremy Drowne was a repeat winner in the 5K in 16:54 and Kelly Duffy-Coryer continued her winning streak for the females. In the one-mile event, Jake Shore took first in 6:58.

Edward Sweenor won the one-quarter mile in 2:14 and Landon Pandolph the one-half mile in 3:34.

There are two fun runs remaining in the summer series. The next run will be July 31. The races are open to all and registration, which is free, begins at 5 p.m.

Kids’ wrestling clinic set for Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — A free wrestling clinic for kids will be held Saturday, from 2-3:30 p.m., at the Lifelong Fitness Center, 21 Weed Street. All children 5 years and up are welcome regardless of skill level or experience.

Registration will begin at 1 p.m. Participants should have shorts, t-shirt, clean sneakers and an extra t-shirt.

NCCS schedules fall athletic meeting

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton fall pre-season parent/athlete meeting for all athletes trying out for a fall athletic team will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 5:30 P.M., in the high-school auditorium.

All athletes intending to try out for a fall athletic team need to be present at this meeting with their parent or guardian. The high-school and middle-school nurses will be available at this meeting. Please bring any outstanding forms to submit at this time.

If your child uses an inhaler, Epi-pen, or insulin, please bring orders from the doctor allowing your child to “self-carry”.

Varsity and jv boys and girls soccer, volleyball, and cross country tryouts will begin on Aug. 19. Modified boys and girls soccer, volleyball, and cross country tryouts will begin on Aug.23. Athletes and parents will be given the specific time and locations of tryouts at the pre season parent/athlete meeting on Aug. 13.

PSU women’s soccer to host beach tourney

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team will host the second-annual Beach Soccer Tournament at the Plattsburgh City Beach on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3-4.

The co-ed tournament will feature four divisions, including an open adult division for players ages 20 and over, an under-20 division, a teen division for players ages 13 to 15, and a pre-teen division for players ages 12 and under. The open adult and under 20 divisions will compete on Saturday and the teen and pre-teen divisions on Sunday.

Teams will be comprised of five members each and at least one female must be on the field at all times. The tournament registration fee is $100 per team.
