ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club held its Fifth Annual Fishing Derby at Lincoln Pond.

Adirondack lists Member/Member winners

PERU — Adirondack Golf & Country Club held its Member/Member Tournament on Sunday, July 14 with 28 members participating. Nancy St. Denis and Kathy Phebus won the women’s division, while Ron McGee and Adrian Rovers won the men’s division. The “Adirondack Ryder Cup” format was used, playing alternate shots on the par five’s, scramble on the par four’s and individual team scores of the par three’s.

In the men’s division, a net 84 won first place for McGee and Rovers, while a net 86.4 won for St. Denis and Phebus. In a tie-breaker with a net 86.7, Sandy Desso and Brenda King took second place for the women, edging out Stephanie Rovers and Carol Dandrow.

For the women, skins were awarded to Carol Dandrow and Stephanie Rovers on the second hole, Kathy O’Connor and Phoebe Sturm on holes five and six, Katie Gluck and Barb Maille on the 11th hole, Kathy Phebus and Nancy St. Denis on the 13th hole, Lena Dashnaw and Gerry Finney on the 17th hole and Sandy Desso and Brenda King on the 18th hole. For the men, skins were won by Gary Finney and Mike Maille on the second and 13th holes, Ron McGee and Adiran Rovers on the fourth and 12th holes, and Bob Dandrow and Henry Dashnaw on the 16th and 17th holes.

Nancy St. Denis won closest to the line for the women and Bob Dandrow for the men on the 10th hole. Closest to the pin on the eighth hole went Alice Sample for the women and Henry Dashnaw for the men. Chipping contest winners were Adrian Rovers for the men and Pat Poissant for the women.

The next Adirondack Golf & Country Club member tournament will be the Club Championships on Aug. 17 and 18. Applications will be available for members in the pro shop.

Volleyball officials needed for 2013 season

PLATTSBURGH — The Northern Adirondack Volleyball Officials’ Board (NAVOB) is looking for interested people to become volleyball officials for the 2013 high school season.

Altona soccer sign-up tonight

ALTONA — The Town of Altona Youth Commission will be holding soccer registration from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Altona Town Hall for anyone who has not yet registered. Elks to host junior golf tournament

ROUSES POINT — The Plattsburgh Lodge of Elks will host its annual junior golf tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the North Country Golf Club. Tee times will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

The tournament will consist of three flights for both boys and girls: ages 12 to 14; ages 15 to 16; and ages 17 to 18. All Section VII students are eligible to compete. Prior sign-up is not necessary, but participants are requested to be at the course by 8:30 a.m. The entry fee is $10 and includes golf, lunch, tourney bag tag and prizes.

Piller, Duprey lead weekly time trials

POINT au ROCHE — Jack Piller turned out the fastest time at the July 17 bicycle time trials, posting a time of 22:47 in the 10-mile event. Piller was followed by Scott Woodward in 24:31 and Jason Amoriell in 24:52. Mary Duprey was the first female overall, clocking 25:03. She was followed by Sabine Amoriell in 27:10 and Alicia Chase in 27:16.

The Time Trials take place on Wednesday nights at the Point au Roche firehouse on the Lakeshore Rd. The event is free and open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes or mountain bikes. Helmets are mandatory and all riders must obey the rules of the road. Sign-up starts around 5:30 p.m. with the first rider going out at 6 p.m. There are two courses for riders to choose from: 5 or 10 miles.
