---- — Town of Ellenburg holding soccer sign-ups

ELLENBURG — The Town of Ellenburg will be holding soccer sign-ups on Monday July 15 at the town hall in Ellenburg Center from from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Chris Brooks, at 594-7221.

Beekmantown Youth Commission baseball camp

BEEKMANTOWN — From July 15 to July 19, the Beekmantown Youth Commission will host a baseball camp at the Beekmantown Town Hall fields. 

The camp is for players from grades third and up and will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Players will be taught fundamentals — catching, throwing, hitting and base running. Pitchers will develop skills in the windup and from the stretch.

Participants can sign up on first day at 8:45 a.m. or register online at townofbeekmantown.com

If there is a large enough sign up, then Friday will conclude with a trip to a Vermont Lake Monsters game. The resident fee is $10, while non-residents are $40.

The Development Corporation holds golf tourney

PERU — The Development Corporation (TDC) hosted its annual golf tournament at Adirondack Golf Club on Thursday, July 11.

First place went to the team of Mark Golden, Cliff Conners, Mark Leta and Marty Mannix, second place to Dan Silverman, John Turner, Patrick Russell and Drew Sabella and third to Steve Fowler, Michael Suliteanu, Bob Butler and Shirley Butler.

Mark Leta won the men’s longest drive and Cheryl Reynolds the women’s longest drive. Josh Price won the men’s closest to the pin and Kathie Cameron Murray the women’s closest to the pin.

E’town Kiwanis Club golf tourney Aug. 10

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club’s sixth-annual Student Scholarship Golf Tournament, with proceeds to benefit the students of Elizabethtown, Keene, Westport and Willsboro schools, will be held Saturday, August 10 at the Elizabethtown Golf Course, Sign-ups begin at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The format is a two-person scramble with prizes awarded to the top three teams. There will also be a putting contest, prizes for closest to the pin (on three holes) and a prize for closest to the line with your drive.

The entry fee is $60 per entrant. Carts are not included in the entry fee, but can be reserved by calling the pro shop in advance, at 873-9974. Those interested can pre-register to: Golf Tournament C/O Paul DeBarbieri, P.O. Box 34, New Russia, N.Y., 12964. If you wish to arrange your own playing group, provide the other names of the foursome or call DeBarbieri, at 873-6728. Checks are to be made payable to the Elizabethtown Kiwanis.

Local archery clubs host benefit 3D archery shoot

PLATTSBURGH — There is a 3D archery shoot to raise money for The Hunt Of A Lifetime today. The local archery clubs will be putting on the shoot. The money raised will go to help grant a sick kid’s last wish. The event will start at 8 a.m.

There will also be a silent auction. We will raffle off a $500 gift card to Gander Mountain, plus a PSE cross bow. For more information, call David Frederick, at 335-8766.

Champlain/Rouses Point holding soccer registration

CHAMPLAIN — The Town of Champlain, along with the villages of Rouses Point and Champlain, will conduct final soccer registration until July 15. Anyone calling after that date will be placed on a waiting list.

Players who registered in the spring do not need to register again, but can call if soccer is the only sport they play to make sure the paperwork was received. Practices will begin mid-August and coaches will contact you when their practices begin. Not all teams start at the same time. For more information, contact Linda Fredette at 297-6824.

Fish and game club to meet on Monday

WEST PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Federation of Fish & Games Clubs will meet on the Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 15. Food is available, but bring your own drinks.

Laperle enters ACT International 500

WATERBURY, Vt. — Patrick Laperle, from St. Denis, QC, has confirmed his entry in the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) 500 event, scheduled for Sunday, July 21, at Airborne Speedway. Laperle is a four-time ACT Champion, with titles in the Series ACT in 2007, 2011 and 2012. Laperle also won the US ACT title in 2008.

Laperle will join 39 other drivers on the starting grid for the $140,000 inaugural ACT International 500. Gates open Sunday, July 21 at 9:30 a.m. Adult admission is $30, and children ages six to 12 are admitted for $5. Reserve top five rows are on sale for $40. Post time for ACT qualifying is set for 1 p.m.

Sawyers finish third at junior golf event

PLATTSBURGH — Rainbow Lake’s Ethan Sawyer (40-35-75) finished third, while Brushton’s Devin Delisle (37-40-77) and Saranac Lake’s Dustin Fischer (41-36-77) tied for fifth place in the boys’ ages 16 to 18 division in Thursday’s NENY PGA Junior Golf event, hosted by Orchard Creek Golf Club. Clifton Park’s Corey Purcell (36-35-71) was the winner.

In the girls’ ages 13 to 15 division, Rainbow Lake’s Carley Sawyer placed third with a 43-47-90. Loudonville’s Madison Braman was first with a 35-47-82.
