Hornet football camp opens tonight
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Hornet Football Summer Skills Camp will get under way today and run through Thursday at the Plattsburgh High School Athletic Complex. The hours will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The camp is open to all PHS football players entering grades 7-12 in the fall.
The cost is $25, which includes 2 performance-wear t-shirts and one pair of shorts with the PHS Hornet football logo. All players should bring football cleats to camp.
Instruction will include position-specific skills, agility, speed and strength skills, 7-on-7, obstacle course, skills course and lineman challenges with awards.

City Fire advances in baseball playoffs
PLATTSBURGH — Liam Rascoe accounted for two singles and three RBI to lead fourth-seeded City Fire to a 9-5 victory over fifth-seeded Kiwanis in the play-in round of the Plattsburgh Baseball Club playoffs.
City Fire will play top-seeded McSweeney’s at 6 p.m. tonight at Lefty Wilson Field.
Kyle Lamora added two singles and a RBI for City Fire, while Ethan Rascoe finished with a single and two RBI, and Seth Atwood and Ian Fountain a single and RBI apiece. Jacob Labounty, Nate Handy and Ben McCasland also had singles.
Lamora was the winning pitcher.
Matt Svarplaitis paced Kiwanis with a double and two RBI, while K. Regan added a double and single. A. Trudeau contributed a RBI double and C. Bacon and S. Wright both added RBI singles.
Rocks, Morgan, Leopard win golf tourney
PLATTSBURGH — John Rock, Mike Rock, Butch Morgan and Billy Jo Leopard teamed to win the St. Alexander’s Golf Classic held recently at The Barracks Golf Course.
The foursome of Jamie Hemingway, Jodi Morrow, Mary Ellen Graves and Jamie Everleth came in second, followed by the team of Bob Butler, Shirley Butler, Jack Baroody and Fran Baroody. Fourth place went to Dennis Bardelcik, Maureen Bardelcik, Jim Dowdle and Jim Barr.
