Heins qualifies for Ironman World Championship

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Bob Heins of Plattsburgh finished the June 29 Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 16 hours, four minutes, 18 seconds and qualified for the Ironman World Championship held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in October.

Heins was the lone competitor in the 75 to 79 age group. The triathlon included a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. Cool water temperatures and high winds made for a difficult course.

The race was Heins’ 14th Ironman.
