Griffin wins Northeastern golf championship

SCHENECTADY — Lake Placid’s Arthur Griffin carded a 71-71-142 two-day total to finish in first place overall in the boys; ages 13-18 division by six strokes in the Northeastern New York Section PGA Junior Championship at the Town of Colonie Golf Course on June 27-28.

Brushton’s Devin Delisle placed third overall with a 79-71-150 and Peru’s Jordan Guay fourth with a 73-79-152.

NC Junior golf academy begins July 2

ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club Junior Golf Academy will begin Wednesday, July 2. Children from ages 4 and up can attend.

Children ages 4-7 will attend from 9-10 a.m. and children ages 8 and up will attend from 10-11 a.m.. Each hour session will cost $10. If a child is a member of the golf club, the cost is $5.

There is no need to sign up. Just show up and your child will have a great time learning how to play golf.

SLU cross-country, track camp set

CANTON — The St. Lawrence University Cross Country and Track & Field Camp will be held July 20-24 and feature training opportunities in all Track & Field event areas as well as Cross Country/Distance Running.

The camp will continue to offer each participant with a week-long opportunity to experience one of the country’s finest sports and recreational complexes as each of the daily training sessions will take place on the 9 lane Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex as well as the adjacent 5000/8000 meter Ronald C. Hoffmann championship cross-country courses.

YMCA Rand Hill bike race set\

PLATTSBURGH — The 10th-annual Tour de Rand Hill bike race is scheduled for July 19. This is a 14-mile uphill race starting at the YMCA and finishing at Camp Jericho.

Registration forms are available at the YMCA at 17 Oak Street, Plattsburgh. For more information, call the YMCA at 561-4290.
