10 YEARS AGO (2004)

Veteran racer Mike Perrotte captures the 358 Modified feature at Frogtown International Raceway.

Plattsburgh’s Mark Dragoon, Francis Trudeau and Julie Landry of Ticonderoga, Crown Point’s Jesse Harrington, and  Cody O’Brian of Rouses Point are among the unofficial winners in the 23rd LCI Father’s Day Fishing Derby on Lake Champlain.

The Clinton County Mariners overcome home runs by Jared Fleury, Matt Hebert  and Todd Hughes to beat Malone 10-5 in American Legion baseball. Donny Coolidge and Billy Davis each knock in 2 runs for the Mariners while Adam Brown chips in with 2 hits. Ryan Gary goes 3-for-4 for Malone.

Stephen Peryea  belts a pair of 3-run homers and drives in 7 runs for the game as the Altona Hornets hammer Saranac 10-0 in CVBL play.

20 YEARS AGO (1994)

Senior Deanna Patnode, of Peru and a standout swimmer at The College of Saint Rose, is named to the GTE Academic All-American Team with a 3.88 grade-point average. She holds two school records and shares in five relay records.

Corey Siskavich’s  pinch single in the bottom of the seventh lifts American Legion Post 20 to a 5-4 win over Lake Placid Post 326.

Alex Willette and  Travis Shatraw both go 4-for-4 to lead Top 40 Video past North Franklin, 17-11, in the Mitchell Division final in the Malone Moose Little League.  Eric Marshall strikes out 9 in three innings of relief to lead Kinney’s over Atlantic, 14-5, in the Queyor Division final.

Terry Flyte pitches the first no-hitter in American Legion Post 326’s history, striking out 10 in a 4-1 win over Granville.

25 YEARS AGO (1989)

Michael Callahan, 15, of Moriah, is a rising star on the motocross circuit.

Jim Ryan raps out 5 hits, including a 2-run homer, in Post 20’s sweep of Montpelier, Vt. Jason Miller and Warren Horner also homer for Plattsburgh.

Tom Tregan resigns as athletic director at Seton Catholic to take a teaching position at Chazy Central.
