North Stars announce 2014 schedule

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh North Stars have announced their schedule for the 2014 season.

The team opens the season this Sunday, June 22 at home versus the Vermont Ravens in a nonleague contest.

The North Stars finished 2013 with a 10-4 overall record and a runner-up finish in the Empire Football League. The team returns many key veterans from last year’s squad and has added some impressive newcomers to the roster.

5th Annual “Run for Rosie” June 28

CADYVILLE — The 5th Annual “Run for Rosie” event, which honors the memory of Rose Rascoe Maynard, will occur at the Cadyville Recreation Park June 28.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., while a one mile and three-mile run will occur at 9 a.m.

The entry fee is $10 per person. Free t-shirts will go to the first 150 people.

All proceeds go to STOP Domestic Violence.

Busch Bash has openings

ROUSES POINT — The annual Busch Bash at the North Country Golf Course will be held June 20.

Lacrosse film, symposium Aug. 5 in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID — The worlds of sports and culture will intersect at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on Aug. 5 as Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse presents the film “America’s First Game”, followed by a lacrosse symposium.

The 7:30 p.m. event will begin with the film, produced by Dennis Deninger, an Emmy award-winning production executive and professor of Sport Management at Syracuse University.

“America’s First Game” is narrated by SU alum Mike Tirico of ESPN. The ensuing symposium will feature many of the sport’s top leaders.
