---- — Plattsburgh Kings finish off strong season

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Kings fifth- and sixth-grade travel basketball team has completed their 2012-1013 tournament season with 33 wins and 5 losses. The team competed in eight tournaments, playing in the championship game of seven and winning four. The team’s members included Zack Bieber (Plattsburgh), Patrick Durgan (Ausable), Cameron Duffield (Saranac), Andrew Follmer (Plattsburgh), Brady Hebert (Saranac), Tom Murray (Seton), Solomon Neuhaus (Plattsburgh), Shayne O’Neill (Saranac), Kurt Ouellette (Plattsburgh), Tyler Phillips (Plattsburgh) and Bailey Pombrio (Plattsburgh). The team practiced at Oak St. Elementary and the City of Plattsburgh Gym and was coached by Bill Durgan and Doug Butdorf.

Electronic Navigation course starts April 1

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of the United States Power Squadrons, is offering a course in Electronic Navigation.

The course will be taught by Mike Stephenson, a Former Commander of the Champlain Sail and Power Squadron, and will include sections on GPS Theory, how to navigate using a GPS, how to develop waypoints and routes, electronic charting on a computer, the use of enhanced chart plotters, use of tablets for navigation, and planning your course at home.

The course will begin on Monday, April 1, and continue for seven weeks from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday evenings at The Lodge at Gander Mountain Sports in the Champlain Center Mall. There will be a charge of $30 for course materials, and participants will have the opportunity to purchase optional related reference material at additional cost.
