PLATTSBURGH — Airborne’s Ernie’s Tools Modifieds will compete for a posted purse exceeding $21,000 — the largest ever of the DIRTcar Modified asphalt era — as a part of the ACT International 500 event this weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
The Modified contest consists of two 50-lap segments — the first set for Saturday night, the second as a prelude to the ACT 300 Sunday. The winner will be determined by the lowest combined point total awarded in the two segments on a one-point for first, two-points for second basis with succeeding positions earning an additional point. Any ties for positions will be broken by rewarding the driver with the least number of points in the final segment.
The starting line-up for the final segment will be determined by inverting the order of finish of the top 20 cars in the first segment.
The Modified Twin 50’s event, paying $3,000-to-win, is presented by Della Auto Group, Northline Utilities, Jeffords Steel & Engineering, Huntley Trucking and Morrisonville Septic.
“This race, with its two-segment, combined-finishes format was designed to support our weekly competitors,” promoter Mike Perrotte said. “Making it a two-day event lessens the likelihood of outsiders showing up in pursuit of a big payday.”
The ACT International 500 schedule includes Twin 25’s for the Key RD Trailer Sales Renegades, features for the Adirondack Water Limited Late Models, J&S Steel Sportsman Modifieds and Busch Mini Modifieds and a 100-lap ACT Reserve (Non-Qualifiers) race in addition to the ACT 300, the three 100-lap segment main event, which pays $25,000-to-win.
Front gate opens Saturday at noon and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. For additional information, visit airborneparkspeedway.com or acttour.com.
