---- — TC Skills basketball camp has openings

PLATTSBURGH — The TC Skills boys’ basketball camp, run by the Plattsburgh State men’s basketball coaching staff, still has openings and is accepting walk-ins on Monday, June 24 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Hall.


Beekmantown Y.C. to hold football camp

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Youth Commission will be holding a football camp from June 24 to June 28 at the Beekmantown Recreation Park from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.

Former Dartmouth College player Jack Daly will be instructing on fundamental skills, as well as seven-on-seven games. Equipment should include sneakers or rubber cleats, form-fitting mouth guard and water bottle.

AMVETS awards banquets Monday, Tuesday

MALONE — The AMVETS little league and t-ball teams will hold their awards and pizza banquet on Monday for t-ball and Tuesday for Division 1, starting at 6 p.m. All players are asked to wear their uniforms. All coaches and parents are invited. The banquet will be held at the AMVETS clubhouse.


Adirondack Marathon still has spots for Boston runners

SCHROON LAKE — The Adirondack Marathon had previously announced that 50 Boston Marathon runners who were prevented from finishing their race would be offered free entry into this year’s Adirondack Marathon. Those that had previously entered the lottery are guaranteed a place on the starting line, but a number of spots are still available. The Adirondack Marathon will take place Sept. 22 in Schroon Lake. Runners loop the lake, facing a terrain that dwarfs the infamous Heartbreak Hill.

Visit to register. Be prepared to enter your Boston bib number as well as the usual entry information. Winners will be chosen by a lottery in early July.

Race Day includes a full marathon, half marathon and a two- and four-person relay. The marathon course is a Boston Qualifier and a USATF Certified Course.

There are races for everyone, including a 5K and 10K Sept. 21 in Chestertown, and a 1K Kids Fun Run in Schroon Lake. For more information, go to


Summer High School Volleyball League starts Tuesday

BEEKMANTOWN — The Summer High School Volleyball League will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday nights (June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, Aug. 3) at Beekmantown Central School. There is a $30 fee. Any player who has played at least one year of high school volleyball is welcome to attend (eighth graders should check with their coach).

Athletic Performance camp has openings

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Athletic Performance still has spots available for any active person wishing to help improve his/her performance. Camp begins Monday and will run four days per week for up to six weeks. Two of the area’s certified strength and conditioning coaches will teach proper body positioning, posture, core, agility, fast-foot work for speed and power lifting while focusing on technique and injury prevention. Beekmantown seeks gymnastics coaches

BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown Central School is seeking applications for the 2013 gymnastics coaching positions. The application can be found at under Athletics. Merlin Falcon Open July 14 at Cobble Hill

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Merlin Falcon Open will be held July 14 at the Cobble Hill Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. This two-person scramble is open to all, and teams will be pre-flighted into three separate flights. Golfers should provide their average 18-hole score when registering.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, two-place teams in each flight. There will be three closest-to-the-pin prizes and a putting contest to win a 32 inch HD television. Participants will be served a BBQ steak dinner following play.
