Three games in CVBL action today in Lyon Mountain

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Baseball League will take a break from its usual doubleheader schedule to play three single games as part of Father’s Day today at the Big Ball Diamond in Lyon Mountain.

The defending playoff champion Lyon Mountain Miners have a lock on first place in the standings with an 8-2 record. The Miners, who are the only team in the CVBL playing over .500 baseball, play the first game of the day when they oppose the Fourth Ward A’s (4-5) at 11 a.m.

The second game has the Meron’s Expos taking on the Fourth Ward Cardinals at 1:30 p.m. The two teams are tied for second with 5-5 records.

In the final game, which is scheduled for 4 p.m., the Peabody’s Padres (4-5) and Tupper Lake Timberjaxx (3-7) will go at it.

Following today, just two weekends of doubleheaders remain to close out the regular season. There is still a make-up game, however, between the A’s and Padres to be played this Wednesday.
