---- — Dupree takes aim at Airborne Modified lead tonight
PLATTSBURGH — After a rocky start to his season, Saranac Lake’s Patrick Dupree has a first and second in his last two starts and may be poised to challenge the supremacy of defending Ernie’s Tools Modified champion Todd Stone of Middlebury, Vt. tonight at Airborne Speedway.
Stone is the current points leader, 276-252, over Leon Gonyo. Dupree has moved into a fourth-place tie with teammate Jessey Mueller of Olmstedville with 226 points.
Tonight’s Liquor & Wine Warehouse card offers two Key RD Trailer Sales Renegade features. Last week, Richie Turner of Milton, Vt. was an impressive winner of the Renegade 100.
Also in action tonight will be the Sportsman Modifieds, Limited Late Models and Mini Modifieds. Plattsburgh’s Robin Wood took over the Limited Late Model point lead with his second win of the year last week. He goes after his third win tonight in the Ganienkeh Territorial Bingo No. 61.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Qualifying heats begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults; kids 12 and under are admitted free.
Great Adirondack Trail Run in Keene Valley today
KEENE VALLEY — The Mountaineer hosts its annual Trail Run on today, and proceeds from the event will be split between BRASS and the Ausable River Association (AsRA). The main event begins at 9 a.m. and consists of a vigorous 11.5-mile run. Runners in this race must be preregistered.
There is also a 3.5-mile fun run starting at 10 a.m. for which participants can register at any time by calling The Mountaineer at 576-2281 or visiting mountaineer.com/trail-run/. For those who wish to attend and support the river associations, there will be vendors, live entertainment, food and drink starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Keene Valley Country Club, which is located at 8 Country Club Way off of NYS Rte 73.
Bud Light Platinum Shootout this weekend
PLATTSBURGH — The Bud Light Platinum Shootout, sponsored by Plattsburgh Distributing, Bluff Point Golf Resort, The Barracks Golf Course and Dukes Diner, will be held this today and Sunday.
Today, Bluff Point will host the Carver format — eight scramble, eight best-ball and two holes of alternate shot with handicaps added together and divided by three or the lowest single handicap to establish the team handicap.
Sunday, The Barracks will host the Dodds format — scrambling on the par 4s, both scores on the par 3s and alternative shot on the par 5s. Handicaps are added together and divided by three to establish team handicap.
There are prizes each day, as well as prizes for the overall winners, Once again Plattsburgh Distributing has been the major sponsor of the tournament. This year, the players are playing for over $3,800 in money and prizes.
