Bowling program set for Bowl Mart Lanes

CHAMPLAIN — The Champlain/Rouses Point Youth Commission-sponsored bowling program will begin Friday at Bowl Mart Lanes.

The free eight-week program will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday evenings on Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22, and Jan. 10, 17, 24, & 31.

It is available for children ages 5-17 who are residents of the Town of Champlain, Village of Champlain or Rouses Point. Participants should arrive early for registration and may play up to three games.

Public skating, open hockey times at RP Civic Center

ROUSES POINT — The Rouses Point Civic Center has announced public skating and open hockey times for the following dates:

Public skating, which costs $2, will be available Nov. 4-7 from 4-5:20 p.m. and Nov. 2 and 9 from 5-6:50 p.m.

Open hockey, which costs $5 and requires full equipment, will be held Monday-through-Wednesday from 9:30-11:20 a.m.

Bezio takes second in Co-Angler Division

BREWERTON, N.Y. — Peru graduate Jesse Bezio, 18, was earned a second-place finish from the New York Bass Federation in the Co-Angler Division.

The New York Tournament was held on Oneida Lake launching from the Oneida Shores Boat Launch in Brewerton. The bass tournament was participated in by 17 boaters and co anglers from across New York and New Jersey. The Bass Tournament was the first Tournament or “Early Bird” for the 2014 season.

The combined points accumulated by the anglers throughout the year during tournaments earn them the coveted Co Angler of the Year Award which Jesse was the winner of in 2013.

Jesse as the youngest Angler on the circuit with a strong start to the 2014 season earned himself 97-points 1st.being 100 points and 2nd 97 points and so on per tournament. Jesse finished second to Ben Wright another Peru native who had 16.65 pounds and recently won “Co Angler of the Year” 2013 National TBF.

The Boater Nick Albano finished 1st in the Boater division with a (5) fish limited of 19.75 pounds with a 6 pound lunker large mouth and Jesse Bezio finished second in the Co-Angler Division with a (5) fish limit of 16.20 pounds with a 4.95 pound lunker Large Mouth Bass.
